"The Labor Department's Latest Employment report reveals that 43,000 more jobs in the construction industry vanished last month, as the sector continues to get hammered by the worst housing slump in recent memory. The number is even more shocking when considering that the economy as a whole lost 62,000 jobs combined.

Specialty trade contractors fared the worst, with 25,300 losing their job last month.

The Los Angeles Times reports that since the housing market's peak in 2006, the construction industry has shed 528,000 jobs."
