"January 30, 2007 Spanish company – no, not that one – wins
Indiana tolling contract
There’s a new player in the roadway privatization game in the U.S.
Spanish company Indra just won an $18 million contract to upgrade the open-tolling system on the Indiana Toll Road and build two control centers.
The contract was awarded in Indra by the Spanish and Australian consortium that now operates the toll road on a 75-year lease.
An Indra press release says the contract paves the way for the company to land lucrative contracts in other states, including Florida and Texas.
Indra specializes in information technology and defense, and has done work for more than a decade for the U.S. Navy, according to the press release."
